Madras man killed in motorcycle crash near Madras while attempting to pass turning pickup

Madras, Ore. — A 36-year-old motorcyclist from Madras was killed Thursday morning in a collision on U.S. Highway 26 south of the city, after attempting to pass a pickup truck that was turning left onto SW Dover Lane, according to the Oregon State Police.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. near the intersection with Dover Lane, a rural crossroad about six miles south of Madras.

State troopers said a southbound Dodge Ram pickup towing a trailer had slowed to make a left turn onto Dover Lane. Behind it, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle—also traveling south—attempted to pass on the left. As the pickup was turning, the motorcycle struck the trailer it was towing.

The motorcyclist, identified as Scott Anthony Pradmore, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, a 22-year-old man from Bend, was not injured.

OSP continues to investigate Thursday’s collision. Jefferson County Fire District and ODOT assisted at the scene, which remained closed for approximately two hours during the initial investigation and cleanup.
