Redmond, Ore. – Just days after Avelo Airlines announced sweeping cuts to its Oregon service — including the cancellation of flights from Burbank to Redmond, Eugene, and Salem — another low-cost carrier is stepping in to fill the gap.
Breeze Airways, a premium budget airline founded by JetBlue co-creator David Neeleman, announced Thursday it will begin offering new nonstop service from Redmond-Bend Airport to Burbank-Hollywood and Las Vegas starting March 13, 2026. The carrier will also offer “BreezeThru” service — a one-stop, no plane-change option — to Provo-Salt Lake City.
“Central Oregon is exactly the kind of underserved market our airline set out to serve,” said Breeze CEO David Neeleman. “We’re confident our new Guests will enjoy their enhanced travel experience onboard one of our brand-new Airbus A220 aircraft.”
The announcement comes at a critical time for Redmond and other regional Oregon airports, as Avelo’s recent exit from several markets — including its popular Burbank-Redmond route — raised questions about long-term connectivity between Central Oregon and Southern California. Breeze’s entry into the market offers a potential lifeline for travelers and tourism alike.
Starting March 13, Breeze will operate flights twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays with the following routes:
- Burbank-Hollywood, Calif.
- Las Vegas, Nev.
- Provo-Salt Lake City, Utah — one-stop, same plane service
Zachary Bass, Director of the Redmond Airport (RDM), welcomed the news: “We’re thrilled to welcome Breeze Airways to Redmond starting March 13, 2026.”
“Breeze brings a fresh, customer-focused approach to air travel, and their arrival reflects the continued strength and growth of Central Oregon as a travel destination and economic hub. We’re confident that their service will be a great fit for our community, and we look forward to providing even more convenient, friendly, and affordable travel options for our passengers.”
Breeze Airways, which launched in 2021, has quickly carved out a niche for connecting smaller, underserved markets with desirable destinations. It operates a growing fleet of Airbus A220-300s, which feature premium seating options, fast onboard WiFi, power at every seat, and policies like free family seating and no change or cancellation fees.
The airline was recently named the No. 3 Best Domestic Airline by Travel + Leisure and recognized by Fast Company as one of 2025’s Most Innovative Companies.
With this move, Breeze expands its West Coast footprint and offers Central Oregon residents an alternative option after the loss of Avelo’s service, potentially restoring critical air access to Burbank and beyond.
