Prineville, Ore. — The Crook County Road Department is set to begin its 2026 chip sealing operations on county roads starting June 8th, weather permitting, with work expected to continue through approximately June 22nd.

According to the county, construction activity will generally take place between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. Officials said motorists should expect delays in active work zones and are encouraged to use caution while traveling through construction areas.

The county advised drivers to observe all posted traffic signs and follow directions from flaggers as crews complete the road preservation work.

Chip sealing is commonly used as a preventative maintenance treatment to help extend the life of road surfaces by applying a layer of oil and aggregate rock to existing pavement.

Below is a list of roads scheduled for chip sealing provided by county officials.

For additional information about the project, residents may contact the Crook County Road Department at 541-447-4644.
