Prineville, Ore. — Local first responders and public safety chaplains will join community members this weekend for the fifth annual Faith & Blue event at Pioneer Park in Prineville.

The free, two-day event takes place Saturday, Aug. 22nd, and Sunday, Aug. 23rd, bringing together local first responders, residents, businesses and faith-based organizations for food, activities and opportunities to connect.

Local participants include the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Prineville Police Department, Crook County Fire & Rescue and Central Oregon Public Safety Chaplaincy.

Faith & Blue is a nationwide initiative focused on strengthening relationships between first responders and the communities they serve through partnerships with local faith-based organizations.

Saturday’s festivities begin with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by a free lunch and activities beginning at 11 a.m. The day will feature live music, community booths, a watermelon-eating contest, K-9 demonstrations, a bike rodeo and other family-friendly activities.

The event continues Sunday with a free breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by a non-denominational church service at 10 a.m.

In a post promoting the weekend’s activities, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office described Faith & Blue as being about “community, connection and coming together,” and an opportunity for residents to connect with first responders and neighbors who call Crook County home.

Organizers are encouraging families and residents to attend, meet local first responders and participate in the weekend’s activities at Pioneer Park.
