Prineville, Ore. – A Prineville woman was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash on SW George Millican Road, according to a press release from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office
Deputies said they were dispatched at about 8:52 a.m. on August 25th after multiple 911 calls reported an injury crash near milepost 9. When deputies and Crook County Fire & Rescue medics arrived, they found the vehicle, the driver, and several bystanders. Medics determined the driver, 43-year-old Rosellyn Thayer of Prineville, had died at the scene.
Investigators said Thayer had been driving a 1986 Toyota SR5 northbound on a straight stretch of George Millican Road when, for reasons still unknown, she crossed into the oncoming lane and onto the gravel shoulder. The vehicle then returned to the pavement, crossed the northbound lane, and rolled multiple times off the east shoulder. At some point during the crash, authorities said, Thayer was ejected from the vehicle. Her next of kin have been notified.
George Millican Road was closed for about an hour following the crash before being reopened to one lane while deputies continued their investigation. The Sheriff’s Office said it was assisted at the scene by the Oregon State Police, Crook County District Attorney’s Office, Deschutes County Medical Examiner’s Office, Crook County Road Department, Crook County Fire & Rescue, Prineville Funeral Home, and STAR Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
