Prineville, Ore. — A death investigation conducted Saturday by the Prineville Police Department has determined that foul play is not suspected after a man was found deceased in Ochoco Creek.
According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:56 a.m. on June 20th after receiving a report of a male subject in the creek near NW Deer Street.
Responding officers located the individual in the water and confirmed he was deceased.
Investigators said information gathered during the investigation indicated there was no evidence of foul play. Police believe the death was the result of a medical emergency.
The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family members.
The bike path along Ochoco Creek between NW Deer Street and North Main Street, which was temporarily affected by the investigation, has since reopened to the public.
The Prineville Police Department extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and thanked the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and the Crook County District Attorney’s Office for assisting with the investigation.
