Prineville, Ore. – The Crook County Clerk’s Office is launching a new tool to help residents better monitor their property records and stay informed about recording activity tied to their land.

Beginning January 1, 2026, the county will offer a free Property Recording Alert Service (PRAS) that allows property owners to sign up for automated email notifications whenever new documents are recorded under monitored names in county land records.

Crook County Clerk Cheryl Seely said the new program is intended to give residents greater awareness and control over their property records.

“This free service is designed to enhance the monitoring of recording activity related to land records, offering transparency and control over your property records,” Seely said in the announcement.

Each alert will include a direct link to view document information along with instructions on how to obtain copies of the recorded filing — helping property owners quickly review unfamiliar or potentially suspicious activity.

Residents can learn more or enroll through the Clerk’s Office website: https://clerk.co.crook.or.us/PropertyRecordingAlertService

Those who prefer in-person assistance — or who would like to conduct a broader search of county records — may also visit the Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. A lobby computer is available at no cost for the public to search and view recording records.

The Crook County Clerk’s Office can be reached at 541-447-6553 for questions about the new alert program or other recording services.
