Redmond, Ore. – Alaska Airlines will launch a new daily nonstop flight between Roberts Field (RDM) and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) beginning October 26th, the airline announced this week. The move comes amid a broader expansion of routes connecting California and the Pacific Northwest.
The new service will be operated year-round using Embraer 175 jets, which feature no middle seats and include both premium and first-class seating options. Redmond is one of seven cities gaining new connections in Alaska’s latest schedule update.
“We’re the only global airline based on the West Coast, and we’re proud to offer the most flights and seats between California, Washington and Oregon,” said Kirsten Amrine, Alaska Airlines’ Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning. “These new additions further expand our ability to take our guests between growing markets in California and the Pacific Northwest for leisure and business travel.”
The announcement comes just weeks after Avelo Airlines confirmed it will exit the West Coast market entirely, ending all service to Redmond and other regional airports by the end of 2025. The ultra-low-cost carrier had offered nonstop flights from Redmond to Burbank and Las Vegas since 2022. Its departure, which Avelo attributed to financial performance and over-saturation in the West Coast market, is expected to take effect by December 1st.
The loss of Avelo left a temporary gap in Redmond’s nonstop offerings to Southern California. That gap will be partially filled with the October launch of Alaska’s new service to Burbank.
Just days after Avelo’s exit was announced, Breeze Airways confirmed that it will begin operating flights out of Redmond starting March 13, 2026. The airline plans to offer twice-weekly nonstop service to both Burbank and Las Vegas, along with a “BreezeThru” one-stop connection to Provo–Salt Lake City that requires no plane change.
“Central Oregon is exactly the kind of underserved market our airline set out to serve,” said Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman. “We’re confident our new guests will enjoy their enhanced travel experience onboard one of our brand-new Airbus A220 aircraft.”
Breeze’s flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays, with introductory fares starting at $49 one-way. The A220 aircraft includes complimentary Wi-Fi, power outlets at every seat, and upgraded seating options.
With Avelo’s exit this winter, Alaska’s daily flights to Burbank will ensure uninterrupted access to Southern California for Central Oregon travelers, while Breeze’s launch in the spring of 2026 will restore affordable low-fare options and expand destination choices even further.
