Prineville, Ore. – The Crook County Parks & Recreation District (CCPRD) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their aquatics team for the upcoming summer season. Positions are available for lifeguards and swim/water aerobic instructors, offering a rewarding experience for those looking for a fun and engaging summer job.
“This is a great team and a great first-time, summer job,” said CCPRD Executive Director Steve Waring
“Lifeguards are essential to the aquatics operations in the community. They are the face of the pool and to some the Parks and Recreation District. They are the first impressions for many that are having their first CCPRD experience.”
Waring detailed his personal experience with many of the young professionals who have worked for the district during the summer months.
“After sitting in on interviews the past two years, I have met so many well-rounded, mature, professional young people that are great representatives of CCPRD,” said Waring.

In addition to providing a fun and active work environment, CCPRD lifeguards gain valuable life skills throughout the summer. “CCPRD lifeguards will gain valuable life skills after working a summer at the pool. They will be learning customer service skills, responsibility, and building great friendships and relationships,” explained Waring.
The ability to swim is an essential life skill, particularly in Central Oregon, where numerous bodies of water pose potential risks. Waring emphasized the importance of swimming education, especially for children.
“I also want to mention the importance of everyone learning the life skill of swimming in Central Oregon, especially children. There are numerous bodies of water in our area and while knowing how to swim is fun, it can also save your life. Many of our lifeguards go on to teach this valuable skill.”
Applications for summer employment can be submitted online at ccprd.org/employment-opportunities or picked up in person at 296 S Main Street, Prineville. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, with a preference for submissions by March 21 to facilitate interviews starting the week of March 24.
